Speed Tweaks and Tips
Graphics

Get your nVidia graphics card pumping with CoolBits. This is actually a simple regsitry "hack" that exposes a set of hidden features programmed into the nVidia Detonator driver. Your Display Properties page will suddenly sprout new options for peak-tuning your card, including a tab for ramping up the clock speed of the graphics card core and memory.

Click Yes and the program will edit the registry. Once it's edited you'll see a window telling you the information has been successfully entered into the registry. Click OK and reboot. Now Right-click the desktop and select Properties from the menu. Select the Settings tab. A button labelled Advanced will appear. Select the icon tab with the name of your card on it (GeForce 3 for example). You'll see a slider type menu with a new option named Clock Frequencies. You can now control the frequency of the nVidia's card memory and core speed independently.

CoolBits is fine as far as it goes, but for maximum nVidia power you need RivaTuner. This is a full-blown app that unlocks all the same undocumented features of the Detonator drivers as CoolBits, but then goes several steps beyond. Not only can you boost performance, you can also improve image quality and solve some compatibility problems.
